SUMMARY:New Year\, New Choices
DESCRIPTION:Each January\, we often mark the beginning of a new year by resolving to make better choices. However\, in doing so\, we can lose sight of how elusive and privileged a sense of choice can be. \nJames Clarke\, a long-time UU and interfaith chaplain at Pittsburgh’s Veterans Association hospital\, will offer insight into chaplaincy and the empathy that he and his colleagues offer to careseekers\, especially those who struggle with the moral distress and moral injury that result from a seeming absence of good choices. \n\nAll are welcome to join us in person in the West Room. \nClick here to view the LIVESTREAM on YouTube. \nAfter the event has ended\, you may watch this and other RECORDINGS on the UUCNH YouTube channel.

SUMMARY:Everyone Has A Story
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Rev Lee Anne Washington \nOur Soul Matters worship theme for January is Living Love Through the Practice of Story. We know our own stories. We think of them as true. We view our lives through the lens of those stories. We make judgments about ourselves and others based on those stories. But\, what if our stories aren’t the only stories? What if there really is more than one side to every story? And what happens when we listen to each other’s stories? Come join us for the first of three interactive consecutive worship services exploring January’s theme. \nFor the month of January\, we will be exploring different ways to find meaning in Sundays worship services. There’ll be a survey to answer in February\, so please come to as many services as you can. \n\nAll are welcome to join us in person in the West Room. \nClick here to view the LIVESTREAM on YouTube. \nAfter the event has ended\, you may watch this and other RECORDINGS on the UUCNH YouTube channel.

SUMMARY:The Stories We Tell Ourselves
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Rev Lee Anne Washington \nSince we all have a story to tell – many actually – we can pick and choose what aspects of our stories we want to emphasize.  An important part of  recovery is creating a story that affirms our traumas\, our challenges\, and our disappointments while also finding something in the experience  that leaves open the possibility of hope. Come join us as we explore the stories we tell ourselves. \nOur Mid-year congregational meeting will be immediately after the service. \n\nAll are welcome to join us in person in the West Room. \nClick here to view the LIVESTREAM on YouTube. \nAfter the event has ended\, you may watch this and other RECORDINGS on the UUCNH YouTube channel.

SUMMARY:Tell Me A Story
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Rev Lee Anne Washington \nRight now\, for many of us\, it’s painful to listen to the national news. We feel uncertain\, anxious\, and often helpless. When that happens\, we can return to center by telling ourselves a story that reminds us that we are part of a beloved community with a mission: to build a loving community that nourishes the spirit\, celebrates life\, and cherishes the connectedness of all things. And\, that we have the resources we need to transform ourselves and our world.  \nSo\, what if we were to collaborate in small groups (in person and online) to tell a story that presents a challenge and a way to transform it. And then what if we were to combine our small group stories with the stories of other small groups to tell a larger congregational story. That’s exactly what we will do on Sunday\, so bring your childlike imagination and wonder\, and turn your attention to the many creative ways we can transform a challenge into an opportunity for growth.    \n  \nIn this multi-generational service\, the imaginations and creativity of our children and youth will make for much better stories – so please come!
