SUMMARY:Everyone Has A Story
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Rev Lee Anne Washington \nOur Soul Matters worship theme for January is Living Love Through the Practice of Story. We know our own stories. We think of them as true. We view our lives through the lens of those stories. We make judgments about ourselves and others based on those stories. But\, what if our stories aren’t the only stories? What if there really is more than one side to every story? And what happens when we listen to each other’s stories? Come join us for the first of three interactive consecutive worship services exploring January’s theme. \nFor the month of January\, we will be exploring different ways to find meaning in Sundays worship services. There’ll be a survey to answer in February\, so please come to as many services as you can. \n\nAll are welcome to join us in person in the West Room. \nClick here to view the LIVESTREAM on YouTube. \nAfter the event has ended\, you may watch this and other RECORDINGS on the UUCNH YouTube channel.

SUMMARY:The Stories We Tell Ourselves
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Rev Lee Anne Washington \nSince we all have a story to tell – many actually – we can pick and choose what aspects of our stories we want to emphasize.  An important part of  recovery is creating a story that affirms our traumas\, our challenges\, and our disappointments while also finding something in the experience  that leaves open the possibility of hope. Come join us as we explore the stories we tell ourselves. \nOur Mid-year congregational meeting will be immediately after the service. \n\nAll are welcome to join us in person in the West Room. \nClick here to view the LIVESTREAM on YouTube. \nAfter the event has ended\, you may watch this and other RECORDINGS on the UUCNH YouTube channel.

SUMMARY:Tell Me A Story
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Rev Lee Anne Washington \nRight now\, for many of us\, it’s painful to listen to the national news. We feel uncertain\, anxious\, and often helpless. When that happens\, we can return to center by telling ourselves a story that reminds us that we are part of a beloved community with a mission: to build a loving community that nourishes the spirit\, celebrates life\, and cherishes the connectedness of all things. And\, that we have the resources we need to transform ourselves and our world.  \nSo\, what if we were to collaborate in small groups (in person and online) to tell a story that presents a challenge and a way to transform it. And then what if we were to combine our small group stories with the stories of other small groups to tell a larger congregational story. That’s exactly what we will do on Sunday\, so bring your childlike imagination and wonder\, and turn your attention to the many creative ways we can transform a challenge into an opportunity for growth.    \n  \nIn this multi-generational service\, the imaginations and creativity of our children and youth will make for much better stories – so please come!

SUMMARY:Our Fourth Principle: A Free and Responsible Search for Truth
DESCRIPTION:  \nRev. Lee Anne Washington \nNowadays\, with most of our sources of information aligned with one political party or social perspective\, it’s tremendously difficult to discern what is true. On Sunday\, we will consider a BBC article fact-checking Elon Musk\, while engaging in a free and responsible search for truth. We will consider how recognizing emotional triggers and logical fallacies helps us discern the truth and protects us from being overcome by our worst fears. \n  \nYou can read the BBC Article here. \nDuring the duration of our OWL program\, all children should report directly to their respective classrooms. \n  \nAll are welcome to join us in person in the West Room. \nClick here to view the LIVESTREAM on YouTube. \nAfter the event has ended\, you may watch this and other RECORDINGS on the UUCNH YouTube channel.

SUMMARY:What Does Inclusion Require of Us?
DESCRIPTION:  \nRev. Lee Anne Washington \nFrom a purely anthropocentric point of view\, there are as many answers to that question as there are dimensions to human expression. Join us on Sunday as Rev. Lee Anne explores some religious and philosophical sources of our understanding of the concept of inclusion\, relates them to our first and third principles\, and suggests some ways that we can be more inclusive at UUCNH. \nDuring the duration of our OWL program\, all children should report directly to their respective classrooms. \nAll are welcome to join us in person in the West Room. \nClick here to view the LIVESTREAM on YouTube. \nAfter the event has ended\, you may watch this and other RECORDINGS on the UUCNH YouTube channel.

SUMMARY:Fear Not! Stewardship Kick Off
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Rev. Lee Anne Washington \nBuddhism recognizes fear as a type of suffering. Zoroastrians consider living in fear worse than death. The phrase “fear not” appears 365 times in the Bible. \nOur annual pledge drive theme is “imagine the possibilities. . . “ Join us as Rev. Lee Anne considers how fear significantly limits our imaginative faculties and explores some advice for how to live without fear. \nDuring the duration of our OWL program\, all children should report directly to their respective classrooms. \n  \nClick here to view the LIVESTREAM on YouTube. \nAfter the event has ended\, you may watch this and other RECORDINGS on the UUCNH YouTube channel.

SUMMARY:Trusting the Ripples: Healing Ourselves\, Healing the World
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Rev. Lee Anne Washington \nIn a world often fractured by injustice and fear\, how do we hold on to trust—trust in each other\, in the power of compassion\, and in the possibility of change? Drawing on the Jewish concept of Tikkun Olam and Buddhist principles of personal transformation\, this message explores how inner healing and ethical action are deeply intertwined. With trust as our guiding force\, we’ll consider how small acts of justice and compassion can ripple outward\, transforming both society and ourselves. Together\, we’ll reflect on the courage it takes to trust in the unseen fruits of kindness—and the hope that sustains us when the world feels beyond repair. \nDuring the duration of our OWL program\, all children should report directly to their respective classrooms. \nClick here to view the LIVESTREAM on YouTube. \nAfter the event has ended\, you may watch this and other RECORDINGS on the UUCNH YouTube channel.

SUMMARY:Easter: When Things Are Not As They Seem
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Rev. Lee Anne Washington \n\n\nRampant partisanship in every aspect of our communal lives makes it difficult to determine what’s really going on. Similarly\, the Easter story is rife with misunderstandings\, misidentifications\, and miscommunications. As a religious community\, what should we do when things are not as they appear? Join us as Rev. Lee Anne explores the Easter story with this question in mind and invites us to consider the gifts that come with a new perspective. \nThe Break Forth Ensemble will lead us in song and the children will hunt for Easter eggs during the service. \n\n\nClick here to view the LIVESTREAM on YouTube. \nAfter the event has ended\, you may watch this and other RECORDINGS on the UUCNH YouTube channel.

SUMMARY:Flower Communion- Beautiful Medicine
DESCRIPTION:by Rev. Lee Anne Washington \nWe will celebrate Flower Communion on Sunday by exploring the many medicinal qualities of various flowers. Some remedies are best made with new sprouts and others are best made with mature plants. A few flowers will be available at church if you forget! \n\n\nClick here to view the LIVESTREAM on YouTube. \nAfter the event has ended\, you may watch this and other RECORDINGS on the UUCNH YouTube channel.
