Mary Doubleday has conducted the UUCNH choir since the fall of 2000.

As an undergrad, she studied music and mathematics at Wells College in upstate New York.   She continued her studies in voice, conducting, and music history at Northwestern University, where she received a Master’s degree and completed the coursework for a Ph.D.

A few years later, she completed a Master’s degree in Mathematics at the University of Illinois, Chicago. In 1988, Mary and her husband, Dennis, moved to Pittsburgh and joined UUCNH as members. Their two children grew up in the church;  Julie is now in Washington D.C.,  Kevin is in Rochester N.Y.

In 2016, Mary retired from teaching math at Carlow University.

She is very happy to have more time for music, reading, socializing, and watercolors classes.

Lindsay has been Treasurer of the UU Church of the North Hills since 2013 and has been a UU since 1988.  She has an MBA in Finance and has worked in that field for large corporations, such as Heinz and IBM, and a small family Real Estate Retail Developer/Manager where she works two days a week now.  Lindsay has also served as Treasurer for the local non-profit Sojourner House, as Treasurer for a Canadian non-profit, and as Chair of the Summer Institute Planning Committee.  She enjoys many outdoor activities and lives in Franklin Park with her cat Ozzy.  Lindsay has a married daughter who was a member of UUCNH before moving to Rector, PA.

Hal has been a member since 1971. He was raised in a loving Jewish family (more cultural than religious) in New York City. After moving to Pittsburgh for employment, he was invited by a neighbor to visit UUCNH. Within a short period of time, Hal became the piano accompanist for worship services and the choir (until 2014). He presently continues part-time to accompany the congregation.
